Nice
By the 19th century, the English had made the Baie des Anges their favourite winter resort, giving the world’s most famous promenade its name: Promenade des Anglais. Every day, walkers, joggers and rollerbladers rub shoulders as they weave their way between the famous blue chairs. A convention centre, Nice is known for its culture, shops and carnival in February. The old town with its flower markets on Cours Saleya mirrors the good life of nearby Italy with its narrow streets, terraces and aromas of socca and olives filling the air.
